A regular whisk still worked perfectly in lieu of an electric too, the frosting came together really nicely. Would definitely make again. Made this cake twice and followed the recipe including the cream cheese icing. The only adjustment I made was less salt because I used iodized salt.

It was definitely a hit! The cake is not too wet, but still rich and delicious. I saw someone below who put in less sugar and I'd be curious to taste the cake with a bit less sugar because it is quite sweet. Not only was this ridiculously easy to make, it was also a hit with everyone who tried it. I subbed out the frosting for a regular buttercream but the cake was perfect. It will definitely be my go to next time I need to make chocolate cake. Great cake! Easy to make, and i found the video steps very helpful.

This was amazing! So much better than a cake mix! I will make this forever. I baked this -- texture was fine, but I swear I used the correct amount of kosher salt no, I did not use table salt , and it seemed borderline too salty.

The cake portion was amazing. The frosting, however, was a little odd tasting with the cream cheese. We ended up scraping all of it off and eating the cake plain. When I make this again I will use butter for the frosting instead of cream cheese. I made this last night; I skipped the frosting.
I baked it for 45 minutes and it was too dry. If I make it again I will time it for I bake a lot so I usually have all the ingredients on hand, and it's quick to make and a good size for a simple dessert.
